Privacy policy

DocSlim is an iPhone and iPad app and a set of free online tools at docslim.in, made by me, Om Bhagwan, an independent developer in India. This page explains what happens to your information when you use either of them.

The short version

DocSlim doesn't collect anything about you. There's no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your scans, photos and PDFs never leave your device unless you share them yourself. That's true for the app and for the online tools.

Your files

Everything DocSlim does, like scanning, compressing, resizing, merging and renaming, happens on your device. The files you make are stored inside the app. I don't run a server that receives them, and I can't see them.

When you tap Share, you choose where the file goes, whether that's WhatsApp, Mail, a website or the Files app. From then on, the app or service you picked handles it under its own privacy policy.

If you delete DocSlim, the files stored inside it are deleted too.

Camera and photos

DocSlim asks for the camera only so you can scan documents. The camera feed is used to find the edges of the page and is never recorded or sent anywhere.

To pick photos, DocSlim uses Apple's photo picker. The app only gets the photos you actually select, not your whole library.

Face ID lock

If you turn on the app lock in Settings, iOS checks your Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. DocSlim only gets told whether the check passed. It never sees or stores your face or fingerprint data.

Things DocSlim doesn't do

The online tools

The tools on this website, like compressing images and PDFs, scanning, merging and editing PDFs, run entirely inside your web browser. The files you choose are read by your own device and the result is made there too. They are never uploaded to a server, and I can't see them. When you close the page, they're gone.

If you use Scan document, your browser asks for permission to use the camera. The photo is processed on your device and never sent anywhere.

If you tap Save to My files, that file is stored in your browser's storage on your device, and nowhere else. You can delete it on the My files page at any time. The website also stores its own pages in your browser so the tools work offline.

This website

This site doesn't use cookies or analytics. It loads its font from Google Fonts, so Google can see your IP address when the page loads, the same as on most websites.

Email

If you email me for support, I'll have your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply to you, and I won't add you to any mailing list.

Children

DocSlim isn't made for young children, but since it doesn't collect personal information, there's nothing extra to protect.

Changes

If DocSlim ever starts handling data differently, I'll update this page and change the date at the top before that version of the app goes out.
